What is the extension being granted for the Advanced Leader Silver (ALS) and the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) awards?Back to Top
For members working in the traditional education program, they may continue to work towards completing their ALS and DTM awards, or completing their High Performance Leadership project to earn the Leadership Excellence award, through the 2020-21 program year. Why does the extension provided by the Board of Directors not apply to other educational awards, including the communication track, and Competent Leader, Advanced Leader Bronze?Back to Top
The Board of Directors reviewed feedback received from various Districts, then discussed and considered the entire traditional education program. Knowing that members have some control over when and where they speak, the decision was made to create an exception for awards with positions dependent on outside factors for their success.

Can I complete the High Performance Leadership Project in Level 5 of my path and apply it to the Advanced Leader Silver award?Back to Top
No, these projects, while sharing similar names, are not equivalent and may not be used interchangeably for achievement purposes. As the Leadership Excellence Award, which is earned through a member’s High Performance Leadership project, was also extended, members will need to complete the traditional High Performance Leadership project for their ALS.

If I am appointed as Club Coach after July 1, 2020, and am successful in June 30, 2021, can I use the Club Coach completion credit and District Leader credit to submit for my Advanced Leader Silver?Back to Top
Yes, if you are successful in your role as a club coach, you may use those achievements for your Advanced Leader Silver. Please note that you will have to submit your application by June 30, 2021.

Will I still be able to submit for my educational awards one month early before the end of the extension?Back to Top
Yes, you will be able to submit for the ALS and DTM awards during June 2021. You can submit as early as June 1, 2021, by email your completed application to educationprogram@toastmasters.org.

Will I still get a certificate for my ALS and a plaque for my DTM if I achieve these during this submission extension period?Back to Top
Yes, each member that achieves either of these educational awards will receive the appropriate form of recognition from World Headquarters.
